Praia de Armação de Pêra
The typically portuguese fishing village and resort of Armação de Pêra is situated in Algarve in the south of Portugal approximately 10 kilometres west of Albufeira. You can stroll along the palm lined promenade and enjoy a cool drink or a coffe with a view to the sea. With a long, wide sandy beach backed by steep cliffs, Armação de Pera is great for a sun holiday. Not very long ago, 50 years ago maybe, this village was nothing more than a collection of small shacks where the local residents from the nearby small town of Pera used to maintain their fishing boats. It is quite probable that the name Armação(word that relates to fishing instruments and ships) is a link with the distant past of the great Tuna fishing industry that existed along the Algarve from the 15th Century and before.
